Your homework for today was to draft your argumentative précis.
Opening Journal Entry: (Suggested: 10 to 15 Minutes)
Step One: Get our your précis. Look it over for a moment, and underline the sentences you think are particularly important.
Step Two: Spend approximately ten minutes writing about the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the current draft.
What do you like about this draft? What are you dissatisfied with? Focus on the writing process you followed. “How” you wrote is an important as “what” you wrote.
Small Groups: (Suggested: 7-10 minutes)
Get into groups, summarize your journal entry for your group. Also, share the important lines from your précis.
When you are done, come up with a short 2-3 minute presentation on your collective strengths and weaknesses. One of you will present this to the rest of the class.
Group Presentations: (Suggested: 7-10 minutes)
One member from each group will stand before the class and present the group’s findings.
